marimekko top

I've finished a new marimekko top before leaving for the trip.
Maybe I've rushed too much, or have to learn much more about chosing fabrics, but I am not that happy with it .. it doesn't fall as nicely as the one I made last fall .. the fabric is almost too stiff and it was very hard (impossible?) to finish it cleanly. I just ran into a lot of problems. Plus, I made a stupid little mistake and fixing that one also contributed to it looking less than perfect..
Maybe I am too hard on myself. It could be worse, and the beautiful fabric distracts from a lot. It was just a little disappointing.
And a wake up call about my sewing skills (or lack of them), too.

waiting..

I've waited here for 1 h 15 min. for a friend I haven't spoken to in a long time - while he was waiting somewhere else.
By the time I left, it was dark and cold, but I started reading in my india book (it's about time). I am going in between feeling totally overwhelmed by having to make choices what to do and where to go and what I will encounter, esp. travelling by myself and considering how I am feeling, which is very different from when I initially started to think about going to india late last year ..

a little play with pola(d)roids yesterday, but too tired to write anything .. seeing them, everywhere, and with that light, it really feels like spring now ..

I've also picked up some homemade jam from the same stall. It said strawberry rhubarb on the lid, which already sounded perfect to me, but when I opened it, it turned out to be the best cassis jam I've ever tasted... :)..
pretty perfect outcome of this morning.

The only reason I was up so early were two doctor appointments I had this morning. And I can't even express, how much relief I felt after I got the clearing after the first one. I haven't shared any of this while it was happening, but it was frightening.

Very overtired, but highly motivated, I went on a little roadtrip, trying to find this architectural gem of a chapel, that's supposed to hide somewhere close to my hometown. Well, actually, I say hide now, because I never found it..
Instead, I came on a road, I've never been on before. You have to imagine, despite this being a rural area, there are tons of roads. If you follow any road in some village, most likely, it will take you somewhere .. often, there are many roads, going to the same destination .. all paved (you have to look very hard to find any dirt road here). I grew up here, so I didn't really wonder about this, until I lived somewhere else.. Now, I find it quite obsessive and definitely not necessary.

What I found was a deep valley.. that road was much steeper than it looks in the picture...with those purple flowers peeking out from under dried leaves everywhere... it smelled like spring. I climbed and jumped around and laid down for a while in the middle of those flowers.

And the battery of my camera died :)

spring scarf

I finished a new scarf today. It's fairly large piece and it took me way too long, considering how simple the design is. The size of the pieces messed me up while cutting. not a good sign, considering that I am planning on doing some bedding soon.
